Involving You
The involvement of local people is essential to the work of Suffolk Police Authority. The Authority exists to ensure that the highest level of policing service possible is provided to the people of Suffolk. To do this, we need to know what is important to our communities and how they view the services they are receiving.
There are a variety of ways that you can assist Suffolk Police Authority.
You can become an Independent Member of Suffolk Police Authority. For more information regarding Suffolk Police Authority please view our Role and Responsibilities section. For details of current vacancies please see our 'Vacancies' page.
Members of our community are also helping the Authority perform its role by providing an essential advisory role through the Independent Advisory Group and through the Custody Visitor Scheme.
Communicating and consulting with local people are among the key roles of the Authority, and local views are essential so that it can effectively represent the community. See our ‘Community Engagement and Consultation’ section to find out how the Authority does this.
Our members work closely with local Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) by serving as ‘Link Members’ and are keen to hear the views of local people on projects or initiatives that could help benefit the local community. SNTs can apply to the Police Authority for partnership funding to help in responding to a local issue of concern. To find details of your local SNT visit www.safersuffolk.org.uk.
