Mike has been retired from Local Government service for 10 years. He continues to be actively involved with a number of national and local care sector voluntary organisations. He lives near Southwold and has a wide range of leisure interests.

Mike acknowledges that "Most people appreciate the importance of maintaining standards of conduct in public service, including those appointed to such bodies as Suffolk Police Authority. As an Independent Member of the Standards Committee, I am in a position to help monitoring these arrangements."
