Rae Leighton had a career in the Armed Forces for some 30 years before becoming a District Councillor for Suffolk Coastal District Council in 1991 and a County Councillor representing the Blything Division.  During that time he has held Cabinet Portfolios as well as other senior appointments. He was appointed to the Suffolk Police Authority in 2009.
